Wednesday – Started the day with the breakfast feast over looking Kuta beach. No hangover today so made it in time. I became so addicted to banana pancakes and had to make up for the one I missed the day before so had two!

We decided to go to Discovery shopping mall today it was walking distance from where we were staying but I was in a lazy mood so we caught a Taxi. The Taxi’s were so cheap it didn’t cost more than $2 to go anywhere & sure beats walking.

The shopping mall was gianormas. It was hard to know where to start. Seriously there was too much to see. Clothes shoes, bags, home wares, souvenirs and everything imaginable. I avoided the temptation to buy more handbags as I have a bit of a bag fetish. I decided not to be too materialist I was happy with what I had purchased the day before. Today I would get some sunnies. Robbie wanted a couple of shirts so we just took our time looking at everything.

I had a bit of a rumbly tummy again and had to go to the toilet, no drama there nice civilized western toilet in the store we were in. Discovery was made up of lots of small shop and a couple of large department stores. It was definitely shop til you drop territory. We wanted to buy the better quality stuff rather than the crap you get at the market which is good but doesn’t stand the test of time. Robbie got a nice shirt. Then he got a rumbly tummy and had to find a toilet and we were in a different store now. I just kept looking at all the clothes lots of lovely stuff if you are a size 8, hehehehe I am slightly (or a lot) larger than that! So has far as clothes went couldn’t find anything in my size. Robbie was taking a while and I was thinking I hope he is ok than I saw him walking weirdly towards me. I said “whats wrong?” He said, I think I just got violated in the toilet. “WHAT ?” I said. 🙂

Then he explained the toilet looked like any other western toilet but it was one like they have in Japan where there is no toilet paper but you turn a tap and water squirts up and washes your bum ! Hehhehehehe poor Robbie wasn’t really up for that and then there is no paper so he didn’t know what to do, how to dry what needed to be dried . I laughed which wasn’t very nice of me but the tables were turned and later I had to do an emergency call to the toilet and you guessed it, it was a squirting toilet. I could see now why he felt so odd, the natural instinct for us is to wipe. I didn’t know what to do to get my bum dry so I just shook a tail feather. Robbie was a lot nicer to me though he didn’t laugh. Ok enough about the toilets I hear you say!

Well after a bit more shopping we were needing a sit down and some lunch so we went to a lovely seafood restaurant called Oceans 27 right on the beach. We had some nice fish and chips and a Bintang for good measure. It was quite relaxing there just watching the world go by. After we were suitably rested we headed back into Discovery for a bit more shopping. Now it was time for me to get my sunnies. Again I wanted the genuine article and not some fake crap although I did look at the fakes and probably would have bought some if I had have found any that I liked but the ones I was looking at weren’t really good fakes.

I went to a real sunglasses shop and started trying on everything that took my fancy from Prada to Gucci to what ever. I ended up getting Raybans in the end, they weren’t cheap but still half the price of what I would pay back home so I was happy and I looked pretty bloody cool in them !

We then went to Starbucks for a coffee, neither of us had had starbucks before so thought we would give it a whirl. Can’t say I was overly impressed was an expensive cup of coffee that wasn’t very nice.

Well we got pretty exhausted with all our shopping we didn’t buy a lot but we looked a lot and Robbie’s legs were very sore so he went to have another leg massage and I went back to the room and had a bit of a nana nap. I actually enjoyed just kicking back doing nothing. About this time the heavens opened up and we got a really big rain storm.

That evening after the rain had stopped we set off again to explore Kuta and looked for something yummy to eat. We walked this time and went up trough Kuta square and we ended up at a Balinese restaurant and ordered a 9 course feast. Oh my good the food was beautiful and was just so much to eat. We didn’t even have room for the desert we gave up before then. It was all really yummy and we rolled out of there ready for bed about 11pm. We caught a taxi back to the hotel. 🙂

As we were walking back to the room Robbie noticed a giant snail on the footpath seriously this thing was huge about 5 inches long (12cm long) . It fascinated me so I made Robbie take some photos It didn’t move very fast so it was easy to photograph. Another end to a perfect day. We went back to the room and went straight to bed as we had a big day planned for the next day .
